
The mom of a 12-calendar year-previous New Jersey boy who died during a no-get hold of football observe is demanding to know how the tragedy occurred.
Elijah Jordan Brown-Garcia, a sixth-grader at KIPP Rise Academy in Newark, died Feb. 10 soon after he fell to the floor and grew to become unresponsive when jogging drills during a exercise with his leisure soccer league, NBC affiliate Information 12 of New Jersey claimed.
The boy’s mom, Raven Brown, explained to Information 12 that Elijah was a “healthy child” and that he did not get CPR.
“He was so pleased to be there,” Brown said. “He did not know that it was going to be his last working day.”
Equally Brown and her young son, who was at the practice, mentioned there was “no contact” ahead of the collapse.
“It was just drills operating again and forth,” Brown said. “He didn’t get strike.”

A spokesperson for the college confirmed Elijah’s demise in a statement to NBC News.
“Elijah will be deeply skipped by our KIPP students, households and educators and we will remember him as a kind, outgoing scholar who was a friend to all,” the school stated in the assertion.
Elijah performed football for the Essex County Predators league at the West Facet Park soccer industry with his 10-year-aged brother.
Brown told Information 12 that it was her younger son who phoned her to notify her that Elijah had collapsed.
“I stated, ‘What are they executing? What is anybody accomplishing?’ And he stated, ‘They are pouring h2o on him, and they are fanning him.’ And that’s when I acquired my young children with each other and I claimed, ‘I’m on my way,’” Brown explained.
Brown reported various people today, which include herself, referred to as for paramedics to appear to the field but it took “a prolonged time” for an ambulance to get there.
“I was battling for him,” she stated. “I grabbed him, and I just retained indicating, ‘Elijah, get up,’ but I knew he was absent.”
