‘Tell me that ain’t fire’ – Sean O’Malley calls for interim title fight vs. Henry Cejudo at UFC 285

Sean O’Malley is completed with waiting around for the formal announcement of Aljamain Sterling vs. Henry Cejudo, so he proposes a new struggle.

Sterling and Cejudo were being rumored to battle on UFC 285, the upcoming shell out-for every-see party scheduled for March 4 at the T-Cellular Arena in Las Vegas. On the other hand, the reigning UFC bantamweight winner introduced he experienced a bicep personal injury that could delay his upcoming protection.

If it is delayed, then O’Malley would want the UFC to plan him vs. Cejudo for an interim championship.

“It would be best: Me vs. Henry for the interim belt [at UFC 285],” explained O’Malley on a modern episode of the BrOMalley Exhibit. “Tell me that ain’t hearth.”

O’Malley has contacted the UFC about the opportunity struggle with Cejudo, but he was explained to to go on waiting around for updates on Sterling.

“I desire they would,” stated O’Malley. “I texted [UFC Chief Business Officer] Hunter [Campbell], I texted [UFC matchmaker] Sean Shelby. I said, ‘Will you at least give me an plan? Will you at the very least say sure or no? Is Henry vs. Aljo going on?’ They just really don’t know.

“They’re sort of just trying to wait and see if [Sterling] can or what,” ongoing O’Malley. “I’m annoyed, but I’m all right simply because I’m just coaching.”

As for Sterling, he stated on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani just lately that he was ‘very optimistic’ about defending towards Cejudo at UFC 285, pending clearance from UFC medical professionals. But if the ‘Funk Master’ is not cleared, he would be fine with ‘Triple C’ vs. ‘Sugar’ in the interim.

“I’m either battling Henry or Sean,” stated Sterling. “If Henry would like to hold out for me, he can wait. Or if he needs to consider the a lot easier struggle, what he thinks to be the best struggle, and struggle Sean if he would like to go defeat up Sean, go conquer up Sean. If Henry would like to hold out for me, we can combat. But if he wants to say, ‘I don’t want to wait any for a longer time, give me a fight proper now,’ maybe they do an interim. I’m not mad at an interim. At the close of the working day, an interim signifies both of those guys get paid, correct? Because they’re going to now have a belt and they are entitled to shell out-for each-look at details. I’m in favor for everyone on fork out-for each-check out on the main card to get shell out-for each-look at points, even if it is 25 cents, or 50 cents for each get. I believe there is a reason why you are on the pay back-for every-view card, so it is like, why not? That is just how I glance at it.”

O’Malley has not fought due to the fact defeating Petr Yan by split choice at UFC 280 this earlier October.
